NaNoWriMo ~ links and participants 2010

NaNoWriMo Has Begun! ~ As a way to help support writer friends and readers we have a link-up to share.

What is it some may ask? ~ It’s National Novel Writing Month, and its a month long challenge for aspiring and actual novelists to create the basics of their book within a 30 day period.

The philosophy is that if you just write while turning off your inner editor and critic you can “write down the bones” of the novel that you have always planned on doing. The editing part comes later (well that’s the plan anyway).

For more of a description take a look at Layers of Thought’s interview with Crystal around her participation in the 2009 NaNoWriMo challenge.

Below are some of the participants I know of so that you too can take a look at their progress and perhaps connect? Share and care… or who knows.. get married find a new best friend goodness knows worse things have happened! *grin*

Contestants:

If you are  part of this challenge and are a reader of Layers of Thought, a friend on twitter, or Goodreads, please please let me know so that I can include you in this link up and I can lurk around your updates.

(Badge to the right links to the challenge site if your interested in looking into it further for next year perhaps?)

Now some tip links and other fun stuff:

These are via GalleyCat which may be helpful:

Amanda Makepeace’sWriting on Wednesdays is a helpful feature for writers, where she links her favorite posts that she’s found around the blogosphere - all focused on writing.

For some musical inspiration John at Sci Fi Songs has a song he wrote about his NaNoWriMo experiences. How fun!

Looking toward the ending of this challenge ~ when you’re done with your draft from NaNoWriMo, what’s next?  Jennifer Crusie recommends a revision course by Story Wonk. Crusie suggests signing up soon since the classes fill up fast. (Crusie has an upbeat and helpful writer’s blog which I recommend even if you don’t read chic lit or paranormal.)

Then there's the question “do I really want to write?” Publishing Perspectives suggests finding someone who cares.

Good luck to the current challenge takers. I will be lurking ~ happy writing!

Well bless you for this! Yes, I am participating in NaNoWriMo! It is enormous fun. I did great the first week, then fell behind in word count this week. Today is going to be my catch-up day, I hope. I am on NaNo as "Bibliophiliac". My novel, such as it is, is called "Poor Bunker"...

Bibliophiliac -
You are welcome! I will remove the maybe :)

I have a profile on the site so I will add you as a "friend" there. I am very new to the site so have no clue what goes on am not participating.

Cheers!

What an excellent feature! Thank you for including my Writing on Wednesday posts. If November's were not such a busy month for me I'd be participating in Nano too! But as it is, I'm swamped!

I hope others find my links useful. I pick them with budding writers in mind. ;)

I was thinking that this way with the link up all the lurkable NaNoWriMo bloggers I know of are all in one spot... :)

Hey Shellie, yes, I too am participating in Nano. It's my first time this year and I'm trying out something completely different, so it may just be terrible!
p.s. I hope to have a new novel to you very soon!

Great post Shellie, I'm going to tweet this right now.

Thanks John -
For a minute there I was thinking you had joined the challenge :)

Creativity is sometimes a generalized thing working across disciplines... music, art, writing...

I actually won NaNoWriMo twice. The novels are horrible, but it was a ton of fun. Those experiences inspired my NaNoWriMo song.

Thats great to hear John so there is hope for me...lol....

Well lets link your song here! :)

Year four... wow. Like I mentioned, I would like to interview you at some time around your process. :)

I have added you as a buddy even though I am not participating - perhaps next year? Until then I will just lurk and learn.
Cheers!
