2011 Global Reading Challenge

2011 Global Reading Easy

2011 Global Reading Challenge ~ There are three levels – the easiest with 8 books (one from each of the eight categories below), the medium level to include 16 books, and the expert including 24. We have chosen the easiest level which will include 8 books. (Badge links to challenge site.)

The Easy Challenge: (8 books) ~ Read one novel from each of these continents in the course of 2011.

(Below are links to Shellie’s Goodread’s shelves, with brackets  around sub categories within each of the regions for your interest and of course pilfering).

  1. Australasia ~ Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands
  2. Europe ~ (Eastern, Western, UK/Ire, Nordic, Mediterranean)
  3. North America ~ (Canada, Native American, CA – the United States)
  4. South America ~ includes Mexico and Central America
  5. The Seventh Continent ~ Here you can either choose Antarctica or your own ´seventh´ setting, eg the sea, the space, a supernatural/paranormal world, history, the future – you name it, and loads of others!  (Arctic, too many other shelves to link here)
  6. From your own continent ~ try to find a country, state or author that is new to you.  John (UK/Ire) and Shellie (CA and North America)

*Disclaimer ~ these shelves do contain errors of incorrect categorizations since most of these books have not been read and I am not a librarian. Enter at your own risk!

Come and join this group of intrepid and vicarious travelers!

Hip-Chick -

We love to read multicultural books so I was so happy to see this challenge.

Yes I think it will move us to read from areas which we may overlook or neglect. I did just add a few other challenges one for a Japanese author as well as an Eastern European challenge as well.

Thanks for stopping by. I will look for your reviews. :)
