     Book Data:

"It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born."

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

As civilization swiftly crumbles into a primal landscape of predators and prey, two people flee in search of sanctuary. FBI agent Brad Wolgast is a good man haunted by what he’s done in the line of duty. Six-year-old orphan Amy Harper Bellafonte is a refugee from the doomed scientific project that has triggered apocalypse. He is determined to protect her from the horror set loose by her captors. But for Amy, escaping the bloody fallout is only the beginning of a much longer odyssey—spanning miles and decades—towards the time and place where she must finish what should never have begun.

Isn't this the book that had a movie deal before it was even finished? Definitely looking forward to reading this one.

    Possibly..

I did a bunch of searching to put together the post but I don't recall anything about a movie deal. But stress ... what a thing it does to ones memory.

I am really interested in this one too. I'm on an apocalyptic roll here.

I'm really eager to read this book, ever since Michael and Anne at Books on the Nightstand praised it so highly. I look forward to reading your review.

I have not listened to that podcast yet but did note they were doing a giveaway for it.

They did praise one of his earlier novels which I added to my tbr pile because of the podcast. I am not sure how I got a hold of this copy but I am really excited about it.

Have you heard if it is to be made into a movie or not? Amanda mentioned this in the above comment.

Ridley Scott has the film rights.

Finished this book today. It's very, very good. I lost a lot of sleep to fit in more reading time.

Thanks for the update - not sure who Ridley Scott is, hopefully hes good since we could use a new really good sci fi/ horror movie.

They say sleep is overrated- I'm not sure I agree but when it comes to a book you know its good when you read it into the wee hours of the morning.
    Cheers!
