Blogger Appreciation Week – A New blogger’s Perspective

Here I am a little late with my post regarding the BBAW - it sounds like fun, and a way to show our appreciation for the blogs that we as blogger find the most interesting, helpful, and inspiring. Here are the answers to the questions about what I think of blogging. With my limited knowledge being a new blogger - almost 3 months now, I feel a bit silly, but hey its no fun watching everybody else swim even if you are afraid to drown - so I’m jumping in!

1) What has been one of the highlights of blogging for you?

I love the process of creating something visual and fun, while finding and sharing information that others may enjoy, find funny, or even useful. I enjoy the challenge the technology presents and trying to figure the challenges out even if I fall flat on my face and want to bang my head on the floor in frustration. Most importantly I think the most wonderful aspect of blogging is the access to all the “grass roots” information, and the different perspectives I get from so many different and distinct blogs.

2) What blogger has helped you out with your blog by answering questions, linking to you, or inspiring you?

I have several bloggers that seamed to magically appear out of nowhere and add themselves to my follower’s list. I thought maybe it would take months to have anyone connect with me. I think first is J. Kaye from J. Kaye’s Book Blog – an amazingly organized book blogger who is everywhere and always responds to my comments individually and whose informational postings are invaluable to a new book blogger; then Amanda at The Zen Leaf – the prolific reader and reviewer whom inadvertently convinced me, by her own example, to find a speed reading tip site. Yvette at True Crime Book Reviews for my first award, and Donna at Fantasy Dreamer for just being sweet, and an excellent example of an artistic and organized blog; but especially every one of Layers of Thought’s readers who take a few minutes to read my – often awkward - posts and every so often take the the time for a quick comment.

3) What one question do you have about BBAW that someone who participated last year could answer?

What are the top resources that you as book bloggers found, through this event, to be the most useful as you?

To the very few of my readers, or the random wanderer, whom is not aware of this event - or possibly too shy to get involved – here is a copy of what the week is about from the BBAW web site. The registration form is is linked below:

Announcing the Second Annual Book Blogger Appreciation Week September 14-18, 2009

Last year over 400 blogs came together to celebrate the art of book blogging during the first ever Book Blogger Appreciation Week! I am so pleased to announce that the second annual Book Blogger Appreciation Week will be taking place September 14-18.

WHO Anyone who blogs about books is invited to participate. In fact, we want everyone who blogs about books and reading to be a part of this week!
WHAT A week where we come together, celebrate the contribution and hard work of book bloggers in promoting a culture of literacy, connecting readers to books and authors, and recognizing the best among us with the Second Annual BBAW Awards. There will be special guest posts, daily blogging themes, and giveaways.
WHEN September 14-18, 2009
WHERE Here at the new Book Blogger Appreciation Week Blog! (Please note that this year there are three separate blogs and feeds—one for the main event, one for giveaways, and one for awards.)
WHY Because books matter. In a world full of options, the people talking about books pour hard work, time, energy, and money into creating a community around the written word. I, Amy, the founder of Book Blogger Appreciation Week love this community of bloggers and want to shower my appreciation on you!

WANT TO PARTICIPATE?
Please help us spread the word about Book Blogger Appreciation Week by posting about it on your blog, stumbling this post, twittering about it, and telling everyone you know that it’s time to have a party and celebrate book bloggers!

Please register by filling out the registration form! Registering ensures your inclusion in the BBAW 09 Database of Book Bloggers and enters you into the drawing for the BBAW 09 Grand Prize!

I'm usually late to the party, Shellie, but I make it sooner or later. Even though my blog is a mixed bag of books and reality (putting me in the category of Never Never Land), your kind comments have been appreciated.

You've come a long way in a very short period of time, and I wish you the best in your future blogging.

Charlie - Thank you, and as the saying goes better late than never. I am having a blast doing this who knows how it will develop.
