Can you see me jumping with joy :) I was hoping so much to win this one.
15th Century Spain is a place and period in time that has always held a great deal of intrigue for me.

I love how Mr. Kaplan says, "People want to paint Columbus as a good guy or a bad guy, as a romantic visionary or a colonist seeking to exploit and rob Native Americans. Like Isabella, Ferdinand, Torquemada, and Luis de Santangel, Columbus was a man of his time – complex, ambitious, and incapable of seeing all human beings as equally deserving of God’s love – but he was not responsible for everything that happened as a result of his discoveries, any more than Wagner is responsible for what Hitler did with his music."
So true.

I can't wait to begin reading.
The author has clearly done a great deal of research in writing this novel which makes the idea of reading By Fire, By Water even more exciting!

Thank you for the brilliant interview! I'll e-mail you my home address :)
Thanks, Shellie!
Hugs :)
KellyTheChicGeekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10781656678543589662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206685128986486929.post-58958224855090306392010-07-08T08:19:05.848-07:002010-07-08T08:19:05.848-07:00Hi Amber - thanks for stopping by and commenting. ...Hi Amber - thanks for stopping by and commenting. I have read By Fire, By Water and it really resonated with me. I love how Mitchell put it: the truth of human experience. I loved delving into the different views of the characters based on their social statuses and their religions and the book as a whole is just beautiful. I have no doubt he will succeed in his next project and I can't wait to read it.Amber at The Musings of ALMYBNENRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16963815851597145235noreply@blogger.com
